Corrigan’s – Feeding the Homeless During Covid-19

IYF (UK) Patron and renowned Chef/Proprietor, Richard Corrigan, has been feeding London’s young homeless a nutritious breakfast over the last three months during the Covid-19 pandemic.

Over the last three months he and his staff have made almost 4,500 breakfast rolls with everything
made from scratch in their bakery and kitchens. They have been preparing breakfasts for over 400
homeless people, 3 times a week, distributed by the volunteer collective, Under One Sky collecting
the food from Bentley’s in Piccadilly and distributing it to those on the street.

Over £10,000 has been raised to keep this enterprise going during these exceptionally difficult times.
Many thanks to everyone who donated to the appeal. The Irish Youth Foundation has been delighted to support the initiative with a grant from its new 2020 initiative, the IYF Covid-19 Emergency Recovery Fund.

Richard Corrigan Jr, said, “Working with Under One Sky has been an amazing and humbling experience over the last three months. It has been…

amazing to see all the volunteers who have turned up at Bentley’s at 9am to deliver 120
breakfast buns three times a week
amazing to see the team at Corrigans and Bentley’s who have been furloughed who turn up
at 7am to freshly bake the bread, make the stew, fry the eggs and prep the bags with bottles
of water and cake made by the volunteers
amazing to have had the support from companies such as Baxter Storey and the Chief
executive, Noel Mahoney who volunteered his resources and time
amazing to see the faces on the people who are receiving the breakfast

I have been amazed at all the people who have given their time, effort and energy over the last three months and beyond. It has been a humbling experience and shows the kindness of people in London is still alive and burning strong.”

While the breakfasts with Under One Sky are finishing for the time being, Corrigan’s will continue to work with them in future as one of their main charities.
